Jackson, Tenn. - 5/27/2003 - The Union University soccer program continues their very busy off season as they have added Marcus Boehler to their 2003 fall roster. He will enter Union as a sophomore in the fall. Boehler graduated from McNairy Central High School in 2002 with honors. He was selected to the McNairy Central Hall of Fame and finish high school with a 4.0 grade point average.
Boehler, at 6-foot-1 190 lbs., started each season for McNairy Central in their first two seasons of competition. Over those two season’s, he scored 22 goals from the midfield position. He was named all-district in 2001 and 2002 along with his all-region tournament selection and all-West Tennessee by the Jackson Sun as a senior. During his freshman and sophomore seasons, before soccer began at McNairy Central, Boehler started for Adamsville High School and led them to an unbeaten season in 2000 for the region title. Boehler also played football for McNairy Central where he played defensive back and at place kicker. In his senior year, he was named all-West Tennessee by the Jackson Sun and All-Area as he help lead McNairy Central to an 11-1 record and a region championship. He holds or shares five McNairy Central football records including career PATs (78), most PATs in a season (45-2002), most PATs in a game (T-7), most interceptions in a game (T-3), and most tackles in a game (22).
