Munford Baseball Star Signs with Union

Jackson, Tenn. - 6/23/2003 - The Union University baseball team has signed Zach Lowery of Munford, Tenn. to play baseball. Lowery will enter Union this fall as a freshman.

Lowery, at 5-foot-8 and 170 lbs., played the outfield and caught during his career at Munford High School. He started all four years in high school and helped lead Munford to the state tournament in 2002 and 2003. Munford finished runner-up in 2003. Lowery was named All-Metro, MVP of the district tournament, All-District Tournament team, All-State Tournament team, and All-Region.

Union’s pitching coach Brent Fronabarger says of Lowery, “He is guy that will come in a play right away. He swings the bat well and knows how to play the game.” Fronabarger adds, “Zach (Lowery) plays hard and works hard and will be a great addition to the program.” Lowery will play a lot as a freshman in the outfield and catching positions.
