Union women basketball back at No. 2, men receive votes

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - 2/13/2012 - The Union University basketball teams continue to be listed among the best in the NAIA with the latest release of the national rankings. The Union women return to the No. 2 spot, matching their highest ranking of the season. The Union men dropped in the receiving votes section, but keep 18 votes to be listed in the 31nd spot.

The Union women are coming off a win over No. 3 Freed-Hardeman 48-44 last Saturday. It was the eighth straight win for Union and the 36th straight home victory. Union is currently 6-2 versus teams ranked in the top-25. Union is 3-2 versus teams ranked in the top-5. Union’s only two losses have come to No. 1 Oklahoma City and No. 3 Freed-Hardeman. Union has also beaten No. 3 FHU, and is the only team to beat No. 4 Lee and No. 5 Cumberlands (Ky.) on the season to this point. Union 4-0 versus teams currently in the receiving votes category.

The men have lost three of their last five games after winning a season high six in a row. The Bulldogs have slipped to No. 2 in the TranSouth. The Bulldogs are 0-4 versus teams currently in the top-25. Union is 2-3 versus teams in the receiving votes section.
