Union's Wandera Named TranSouth Player of the Week for Third Straight Week

Jackson, Tenn. - 10/6/2003 - Gladys Wandera continues her offensive dominance of the TranSouth as she received her third straight TranSouth Conference Player of the Week honor. Wandera helped Union to a 1-1 week with their only loss come at No. 16 Lee University. Union is 18-4 overall and are currently second place in the TranSouth standings at 4-1.

Wandera averaged 6.33 kills, 2.67 digs, and 1.67 blocks per game in Union’s two matches this week. She posted a hitting percentage of .516 as Union earned a 3-0 road win at Lyon College and lost 3-0 on the road at Lee University. At Lyon, Wandera tallied 17 kills, 25 attacks, and just two errors. She also had eight digs, five blocks, and two service aces. At Lee, Wandera posted 21 kills and four errors in 37 total attempts. She tallied eight digs and five blocks in the loss.

On the season, Wandera leads Union with 330 kills, 40 service aces, and 94 total blocks. In the TranSouth, she leads with a .472 attacking percentage and ranks second with 4.85 kills per game.

Up next for Union is a match on Monday, October 6 at Berry College. Thursday, October 9, Union will host TranSouth opponent Trevecca Nazarene University (23-2/6-2) at 7:00 p.m. #DOGS#
