Jackson, Tenn. - 11/15/2001 - Two more Union University programs are ranked in the NAIA Top 25 as golf is picked No. 12 and baseball comes in at No. 24.
Union Golf had an outstanding fall as they went 40-0 against NAIA opponents including a victory over No. 6 Berry College. Head coach Keith Dorey says, “It’s about where I expected to be. It makes a statement that our team has improved a great deal from last season, but we still have to win in the spring. That’s when it counts.” In the three biggest tournaments of the fall, Union finished first, second, and first, losing only to an NCAA Div. I school.
The Bulldog baseball program enters the 2002 season as the No. 24 team in the NAIA. Union has added some good talent in hopes of fielding a deeper and more consistent team this season. The Bulldogs finished 34-23 last season with their third consecutive trip to the regional tournament. Union will face five top 25 teams during the 2002 season and have six games against NCAA Div. II opponents. The Bulldogs are picked to win the TranSouth Conference in 2002 and have hopes of reaching the always tough NAIA World Series.
