Union Lady Bulldogs Sign Third Player for 2004-05

JACKSON, Tenn. - 2/25/2004 - The Union University Lady Bulldogs have signed their third player for the 2004-05 basketball season with the addition of Whitney Tate. Tate, a native of Shelbyville, Tennessee, will transfer to Union next the fall from East Tennessee State University.

Tate started six games for ETSU this season as a freshman. Tate played her high school basketball at Shelbyville High School where she was a three-year starter. While at Shelbyville, Tate led her team to two state championships, including her senior year in which Shellbyville was the tenth ranked high school team in the nation . For her efforts as a senior, Tate was named an All-State performer in 2003.

Union’s head coach Mark Campbell states that, “Whitney is a winner, a great decision maker, leader, and a great shooter.” Campbell adds, “Whitney played in one of the best high school programs in the country and we are excited about her being at Union.”

Tate joins fellow transfer Tiffany Fisher (MTSU) and high school standout Crystal Eason (Scotts Hill) as the three new players that are slated to join the Union Lady Bulldogs in the fall of 2004.
