JACKSON, Tenn. - 4/16/2004 - Union University, ranked No. 9 in the NAIA, swept Lee University in a big conference double header at Union's Fesmire Field on Friday night. The Lady Bulldogs defeated Lee 2-1 in both games. Union improved to 34-9 overall and 11-5 in the league while Lee falls to 17-21 overall and 6-6 in the conference.
In the first game, Union rallied with a run in the bottom of seventh after Lee tied the game with a run in the top of the seventh. Christina Johnson recorded the game winning RBI with a single in the bottom of the seventh to score Holly Haycraft from third. Haycraft reached on a leadoff single. Gronberg for Union improved to 19-3.
In game two, Union led again 1-0 before Lee scored one to tie the game with a run in the fourth. Union again answered with an immediate run to take the lead for good in the bottom of the fourth inning. Mary Kosco improved to 15-6 on the season.
