Jackson Native Signs on with Union Golf Team

JACKSON, Tenn. - 7/22/2004 - Luke Yandell, from Jackson, has signed to play his college golf for the Bulldogs of Union University. Yandell, the son of Tim and Diane Yandell will join Union this fall as a freshman.

At 6-foot-1 and 176 lbs, Yandell brings a great deal to the Union squad. “Yandell is a young golfer with a lot of playing experience” says Union golf coach Don Morris. “I believe that we have a player in Luke that will help our team immediately.” He played his high school golf at Trinity Christian Academy were he was named the teams MVP in 2003. Yandell placed second in the district and region tournaments and fourth in the Tournament of Champions. He was named to the All-West Tennessee Team and is a 6-time winner of Vince Gill junior tour events. Yandell has been a qualifier for the State Am and Junior State Am tournaments. Yandell has a +.1 handicap.

The Union golf team will open their 2004 golf season with a tournament in early October.
