Union’s Munro Receives Weekly Honor from Conference and Region

JACKSON, Tenn. - 10/13/2004 - Gareth Munro, a member of the Union University men’s soccer team, has been named the TranSouth Conference and NAIA Region XI Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 10. Munro helped Union to a perfect 2-0 week.

Munro, a sophomore midfielder from Cumbernauld, Scotland, put together two game winning performances to earn the conference player of the week honors. In Union’s 5-1 victory over TranSouth Conference opponent Freed-Hardeman University, Munro scored three goals on the day for the conference win. Against NCAA D-III Piedmont College, Munro scored the game winning goal with 40 seconds left in regulation for the 3-2 Bulldog victory. Munro leads Union with eight goals and 18 total points on the season.

Union is now 6-5-1 on the season and 2-1 in TranSouth Conference play.
