JACKSON, Tenn. - 10/27/2004 - Seniors Nicole Garber and Allison Shein were named the TranSouth Conference Setter of the Week and Libero of the Week respectively. For Garber, this is her sixth such honor of the season, and for Shein, her fifth. Both players helped lead Union to a 5-1 record for the week, with their only loss coming at No. 13 Taylor University. Union is 21-2 overall and their 8-0 conference record is good for first place with just two league matches remaining.
Garber, a 5-foot-7 senior from Columbus, Indiana, was an integral part of the Lady Bulldogs going 5-1 this week. For the week Nicole averaged 13.00 assists per game (195 assists in 15 games played) and recorded 23 digs and 6 service aces.
Shein, a 5-foot-7 senior from Lighthouse Point, Florida, led the Lady Bulldogs to 5 victories this week, including a conference victory over Cumberland University. For the week, Shein averaged 4.22 digs per game and attempted 117 passes with only 7 errors.
Up next for Union will be their next to last conference match of the season versus Martin Methodist College on Thursday, Oct. 28 at 7:00 pm. With a win over Martin Methodist, Union clinches at leas a tie for the TranSouth Regular season title. Union will then play Freed-Hardeman on Nov. 2 at 6:00 pm in their final TranSouth match of the season.
