Union Runners Finish Season Strong in NAIA Nationals

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - 11/20/2004 - The Union University Cross Country teams were represented by three indiviual qualifiers to the NAIA National Cross Country Meet. Janelle Campbell and Chris Winter, two seniors both of Jackson, and Phillip Thompson, a freshman standout from Laronia, Tennessee, each completed their respective runs in the NAIA National Meet.

Campbell, in her third NAIA National Race, finished 121st overall with a time of 19:52.60 in the 5K run.

In the 8K men's race, Phillip Thompson finished 179th with a time of 27:36.80. Chris Winter, in his second NAIA National Meet, finised 240th with a time of 28:52.60.

Union's very successfull cross country season comes to an end as they took the men's and women's TranSouth Tournament Championship. The teams also swept the conference postseason honors. The women finished runner-up in the NAIA Region XI Meet, while the men posted a third place finish in the region.
