JACKSON, Tenn. - 4/12/2005 - Emily Rawls of Cordova, Tennessee has signed to play her college soccer for the Lady Bulldogs of Union University. Rawls will graduate from Cordova High School this May and will enter Union in the fall.
Rawls, a 5-foot-4 defender, is a two-sport athlete at Cordova High School in soccer and track. As a member of the soccer team, she helped lead the team to the state finals as a sophomore and junior, and then the region championship as a senior. This season, Rawls was named the defensive MVP and was also selected as a member of the Katie Hunter All-Tournament team. As a freshman, Rawls was named the junior varsity defensive MVP, as well as, most improved. During her season on the track team, she placed second in the state in the 800.
Of the field, Rawls’ accomplishments are just as numerous. She is a member of the National Honor Society, the National Spanish Club’s Vice President, Student Government Association, Art Club, Latin Club, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Union head coach Brandon Boylan is excited about the addition of Rawls to the program. “Emily’s versatility and ability to play multiple positions is something every coach likes to have in a player.” Boylan adds, “She has Division I talent and will make an immediate impact to our first year program.”
