JACKSON, Tenn. - 4/12/2005 - The Union University men's golf team finished third place in the 2005 TranSouth Conference Golf Tournament held at the Hermitage Golf Course in Old Hickory, Tennessee. Union improve their postition in the final day of this two-day event after sitting fourth following Monday's first round.
Union finished behind Cumberland University who won this event with a two-day team score of 603. Martin Methodist finished second with a score of 611, with Union coming in third at 621. Freed-Hardeman finished fourth with a score of 625, Trevecca Nazarene finished fifth at 637, while Lyon finished sixth at 712.
Cole Floyd, of Milan, and Welch Hopkins, of Brownsville, were the top golfers for Union as he posted a two-day scores of 153, good for a tie for ninth. Barry Conaster of Cumberland finished first with a 148. Other scores for Union included Luke Yandell at 155, Brenton Berlin at 161, and William Boyd at 167.
