Union Baseball Adds Jo Byrns Standout to 2005-06 Roster

JACKSON, Tenn. - 9/16/2005 - Ryan Vincent, of Cedar Hill, Tennessee, has joined the Union University baseball program for the 2005-06 season. Vincent will is a freshman this fall and will be majoring Christian Studies.

Vincent, a 6-foot 170-pound pitcher, was a three sport athlete at Jo Byrns High School in Cedar Hill, Tennessee, including baseball, football, and golf. He led his team to the 2005 District 10A Title. Following his senior season in baseball, Vincent earned the TBS Cy Young Award and the Robertson County Times Pitcher of the Year Award. He was also named to the District 10A All-Tournament team, the District 10A MVP, and was named a third team All-State tournament team. He has a career record of 23-13 with one save and an ERA of 2.78. Vincent tossed 214 career innings where he tallied 163 strikeouts, 94 walks, and allowed just 85 earned runs. In football, Vincent was named All-County and All-Region wide receiver. He holds his high school record for receiving touchdowns in a season with seven. Off the field, Vincent was a member of the Beta Club, Student Council President, and was a Boy's State Representative.
