JACKSON, Tenn. - 2/7/2006 - The No. 5 ranked Union University Lady Bulldogs rebounded nicely from a tough loss on the road with a 94-66 win over Lambuth University on Tuesday night at Union' s Fred DeLay Gymnasium. The Lady Bulldogs improved to 18-5 on the season. Lambuth, ranked No. 23 on the season, fell to 15-10.
Union used their second biggest half of the season to put the game out of reach early. Union's 57 points in the first half versus Lambuth was their highest since the Lady Bulldogs tallied 60 in a win over Oklahoma Christian earlier this season.
In the first half, Union outscored Lambuth 57-28. The Lady Bulldogs shot 52 percent from the field including 35 percent (6-17) from behind the arc in the first 20 minutes. In the second half, Union coasted in for the win by making 40 percent of their three pointers (6-15) to earn the 94-66 win.
Union was led with five players in double figures. Sophomore Cristal Eason and Ena Daniels each tallied 18 points. Merideth Richardson added 13 points, while Natanya Smith and Jessica Graves each added 12 points. Graves made 4-of-4 three pointers in the game.
Lambuth was led by Angie DeSantis with 21 points, as she also made 4-of-4 three pointers. Dee-Ann Gooding added 12 points.
Union will play next on Thursday night when they return to conference play with a trip to Blue Mountain. Union will then host No. 4 Trevecca Nazarene on Saturday. Game time is 2:00 pm.
