Union’s Hayden Receives TranSouth Player of the Week Honor

Jackson, Tenn. - 9/12/2001 - Lauren Hayden, a senior from Belleville, Ill., was named the TranSouth Conference Volleyball Player of the Week. Hayden helped to lead Union to a 4-0 record for the week and the Lady Bulldogs improve their season mark to 8-0.

Hayden, a 5-11 outside hitter, averaged 5.15 kills per game with a .338 attack percentage. On the week, she added 10 service aces, 71 digs, and six blocks. Hayden ranks high in the conference in almost every category as she is first in defense with 5.61 digs per game, second in kills per game with 5.27, and fourth in attack percentage at .336. Hayden continues to add to her NAIA record for kills in a career, a record she broke and surpassed at the end of her junior season.

The Lady Bulldogs will begin defense of their TranSouth regular season title as they travel to Cleveland, Tenn. on Saturday to battle Lee University at 12:00 Noon (EST).
