Union Softball Adds Brighton Standout to 2007 Roster

JACKSON, Tenn. - 4/7/2006 - Haley Lyles of Brighton, Tennessee has signed to player her college softball for the Lady Bulldogs of Union University. Lyles will join Union this fall as a freshman after graduating form Brighton High School this coming May.

Lyles, a 5-foot-7 pitcher/first baseman, was a three sport athlete during her time at Brighton High School including softball, volleyball, and bowling. She helped lead her softball team to the 2003, 2004, and 2005 state tournament. Over the past three season, Lyles helped lead Brighton to three Sub-State titles, three Regional Titles, and two District Titles. Lyles was named the teams Rookie of the Year as a freshman, defensive player of the year and All-District as a sophomore, and All-Tournament, All-District, and Best of the Preps during her junior season. She hit .389, posted an ERA of 0.80, and also tallied a fielding percentage of .982 in high school. In volleyball, she was named All-Tournament and led the team in assists as a senior. In bowling, Lyles was named an All-Tournament, All-District, MVP, and Most Improved as a senior.

Lyles was just as active and successful off the field as she placed second place in the HCSA Dental Terminology Competition.
