JACKSON, Tenn. - 4/21/2006 - The Union University men’s cross country team added another top recruit to Thursday signing Seth Covington from Saltillo, Mississippi. Covington joins Jackson Christian standout Justin Reid as Union’s two early signees.
Covington is coming off a cross country season in which he won many of his races, including the 4A State Championship meet in Mississippi.
Union head coach Gary Johnson feels confident that Covington will step in right away and be an asset to Union. "Seth is a great person, student, and athlete, the ideal combination for our program. He is involved in his church, has a 4.0 GPA, and is a state champion athlete. We are looking forward to Seth and Justin adding to the depth and talent of our team over the next four years."
The Union men’s team has won back-to-back TranSouth Titles and is coming off their highest NAIA Region XI finish in the program’s short history. This past fall, Union placed third in the Region XI Meet and sent two runners to the NAIA National Cross Country meet as individual qualifiers.
