Union Men's Soccer Moves to 2-0 with Shutout Win

JACKSON, Tenn. - 8/29/2006 - The Union University men's soccer team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 6-0 win at Clearwater Christian College (Fla.) on Tuesday.

Union led 1-0 at halftime on a goal by Bobby McColl in the 35th minute. Union then added three goals in the first eight minutes after halftime. Craig Clark, Wagner Oliveira, and Benny Crozier put the Bulldogs up 4-0 during that stretch. McColl added his second goal of the game in the 60th minute followed by Gareth Munro's first goal of the season in the 79th minute. Union recorded assists from Kyle Sanders with two, Christopher Prentice, McColl, and Wagner Oliveira with one each. Chris Lean and Alex Ayris combined for a shutout with Lean playing the first 81 minutes of the match. Lean recorded one save while Ayris posted three saves.

Union will play next on Friday, September 8 at 2 pm in scrimmage match versus Fisk University (Tenn.) on Union's campus.
