JACKSON, Tenn. - 8/30/2006 - Yogi Vaneman of Cordova has signed to play his college baseball for the Bulldogs of Union University. Vaneman made his decision early and will enter Union in the fall of 2007 after completing his senior year.
Vaneman, a 6-foot-3 180 lb. shortstop, prepped at Cordova High School where he played baseball, golf, and basketball. As a junior on the baseball diamond, Vaneman hit .409 with 10 walks, eight triples, and two homeruns. He also tallied 20 stolen bases and posted a .720 slugging percentage. His eight triples was tops in the state of Tennessee in 2006.
"I am very excited to have the chance to play at baseball Union", states Vaneman. "I want to thank God for provided me the talent and opportunity to play baseball and my parents and grandparents for all of their support over the years."
