Union’s Ogolla, Wallach Receive TranSouth Honors

JACKSON, Tenn. - 10/16/2006 - Purity Ogolla and Lindsey Wallach of Union University have been named the TranSouth Conference Volleyball Setter and Libero of the Week. Ogolla and Wallach helped lead Union to a 2-0 week, which pushed the team’s overall record to 20-4 on the season.

Ogolla, a 5-foot-9 senior from Nairobi, Kenya, recorded 44 assists against Cumberland University (Tenn.) in a three game victory, and then added 30 more assists against the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.). On the week, she averaged 14.8 assists per game.

Wallach, a 5-foot-8 junior from Eureka, Missouri, was also a key part of the Lady Bulldogs 2-0 week. She posted 16 digs against Cumberland, and added 13 digs against the Cumberlands (Ky.).

Union will try to extend their four-game winning streak tonight (Monday) as they travel the short trip across town to play conference foe Lambuth University at 7:00 pm. On Tuesday, October 17, Union will host a Tri-Match with the Lady Bulldogs playing conference foe Bethel College (Tenn.) at 3:00 pm and then Williams Baptist College (Ark.) at 7:00 pm. Bethel and Williams Baptist will play each other at 5:00 pm at Union’s Fred DeLay Gymnasium.
