Lindsey Wilson (Kentucky) College has named Ryan Massey assistant men’s basketball coach and men’s junior varsity head coach.
Massey -- a native of Jonesboro, Arkansas -- comes to Lindsey Wilson from Union University in Jackson, Tennessee, where he spent last two seasons as a graduate assistant coach under head coach Ralph Turner. During Massey’s tenure, the Bulldogs complied a record of 55-16, including two National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) national tournament appearances.
Lindsey Wilson College head coach Steve Dodd said he is excited to have Massey as part of the Blue Raider coaching staff.
“I am extremely excited to have Ryan here,” Dodd said. “He is a very knowledgeable, committed individual that will be a tremendous asset to the program as well as an excellent addition to our staff.”
Massey said he also looks forward to joining the Lindsey Wilson coaching staff.
“I’m looking forward to working with Coach Dodd and being involved with Lindsey Wilson basketball,” Massey said. “Coach Dodd works very hard and I’m excited about helping him build an even stronger program.”
Prior to his Union coaching career, Massey played for the Bulldogs from 1996-2000, where he was a part of the most successful era in the school’s prestigious history. Massey’s teams compiled a four-year record of 112-28, including two TranSouth Conference championships, three consecutive trips to the NAIA national tournament and a No. 2 national ranking during the 1998-99 season where the team finished 35-3, a school record for wins.
“Ryan has been a winner everywhere he’s been and I’m confident he will bring that winning attitude to our program,” Dodd said. “I don’t think we could have found a better fit or a better person to become part of our program.
Massey said he’s excited about the role he will play at Lindsey Wilson.
“Lindsey Wilson offers me a chance to hone my coaching skills, by working with our players on an individual level and blending those individuals into a team,” Massey said. “Although this team is extremely young, they are very talented and I believe we will be very competitive right away.”
