Union Baseball Adds Kentucky Standout for 2007-08 Season

JACKSON, Tenn. - 12/21/2006 - Union University has signed Murray, Kentucky native Colby Starks to a baseball scholarship. Starks will enter Union after his graduation from Calloway County High School in 2007.

Starks joins Union from Calloway County High School in Murray, Ky. While at Calloway County, Starks played both baseball and football. He helped lead the baseball team to a region runner-up finish in 2005 and a district championship in 2006. Starks was named to the All-District and All-Region Tournament teams as a junior. He was also honored with a selection to the KHSBCA Junior All-Star Team and the Junior All-State Team. Starks has posted a career batting average of .396 in high school. During junior and senior legion baseball, Starks hit .433. He set the Senior Legion Post 236 single season doubles record with 26. Starks also set the record with the most wins as a starting catcher at Calloway County. Starks earned the Baseball Academic Achievement Awards from 2002-2006.
