Union Baseball Adds Juco Transfer to 2007 Roster

JACKSON, Tenn. - 6/11/2007 - The Union University baseball program continues to add players to the 2007 roster with the latest signing of Carl Harken. Harken, from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, will enter Union this fall as a freshman and will major in History Education.

Harken, a 6-foot-5 right-handed pitcher, transfers to Union from Kirkwood Community College where he played two seasons of baseball. While at Kirkwood, he was named Academic First Team All-Conference. Harken prepped at Washington High School where he played baseball, football, and basketball. He was named honorable mentioned All-Conference in baseball.

Union head coach Brent Fronabarger states of Harken, “Carl will be one of our weekend guys next year. He is a big kid at 6-foot-5 that has an above average fastball and breaking ball.” Fronabarger adds, “He excels both on the field and in the classroom. We are glad to be able to sign Carl and have him represent Union as a student-athlete.”
