Union Volleyball Tops Mid-Continent 3-0

JACKSON, Tenn. - 9/14/2007 - The Union University volleyball team got back on the winning track with a 3-0 (30-11, 30-14, 30-11) win. Union improved to 7-1 overall and 3-1 in the TranSouth. Mid-Continent dropped to 0-6 on the season and 0-5 in league play.

Union led early and never looked back with big nights from newcomers CJ Neathamer with 12 kills and Tiven Catrett with 11 kills. Last weeks conference setter of the week, Jennifer Martins led with 31 assists. Cassi Hobbs, the reigning TranSouth and NAIA Region XI Libero of the Week, led Union with 19 digs. Emily Ogas led with three blocks.

Up next for Union will be a big conference match-up when the Lady Bulldogs host conference and area rival Freed-Hardeman University (Tenn.) at Fred DeLay Gymnasium. Match time is 7:00 pm.
