Before Union: Lagares prepped at South Dade High School were he played centerfield for four seasons. He led his team to district championships in 1995 and 1996. He was name All-State Honorable Mentioned in 1997. Lagares then spent two seasons at Hillsborough Community College where he played rightfield for two seasons.
