Before Union: Mauldin prepped at Paragould (Ark.) High School where she played softball and volleyball. In softball, she was a three-time Best Under the Sun All-Conference selection, twice named all-state, and earned the Outstanding Pitcher Award three times. Mauldin was also selected as team captain twice and was named to the all-state tournament team as a junior. She has a 1.75 career ERA with 418 innings pitched, 384 strikeouts, 20 shutouts and one perfect game through her first three seasons. Off the field, Mauldin was vice president of the National Honors Society, vice president of the Key Club and was a member of the Leo Club.
