Before Union: Freeman prepped at Clarksville High School where she played softball and soccer. Freeman was named all-area as a sophomore, followed by all-district and all-area honors as a junior and senior. She posted batting averages above .400 in each of her sophomore, junior and senior seasons. Freeman hit .468 as a junior with three home runs and then hit .400 as a senior. Freeman was also a member of the Clarksville Patriots travel team that won the 2005 state championship. Off the field, Freeman was a member of the National Honor Society, FCA and Key Club, while also graduating with distinguished honors.
