Mark Campbell - Head Coach

Mark Campbell begins his third season as the head coach of the Lady Bulldogs. Campbell finished last season with a 31-5 record, which included the regular season and conference tournament champions along with a trip to the elite eight in NAIA National Tournament.

Campbell spent five season as a player for the Bison basketball team and graduated from David Lipscomb University in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and from Union University in 1996 with a Master of Education.

After redshirting his freshman season at Lipscomb, Campbell went on to excel in the basketball arena. Campbell currently ranks 12th in all-time scoring at Lipscomb with 1,509 prints. The 724 assists he accumulated during his career places him in the top five at David Lipscomb for career assists. Campbell helped guide the Bisons to five national tournament appearances, a 129-19 four-year record, and a national record of 42 wins in a season.

Campbell helped build the men’s basketball program a Union realizing that coaches have greatly influenced his own path in life, Campbell believes that all coaches are in positions where they have the opportunity to influence young people.

Katie Woodruff - Assistant Coach

Katie Woodruff will begin her first season with the Lady Bulldogs. She is coming to Jackson from Kansas City where she has worked the past 10 months for K-Life, Inc. on their women’s staff helping to develop female volunteers to effectively disciple small groups.

A graduate of John Brown University in Arkansas where she was an All-Conference performer on the court, Woodruff participated in the Sooner Athletic Conference with NAIA powerhouse teams such as Oklahoma City and Southern Nazarene. After graduating from John Brown University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology, Woodruff worked for two seasons as a volunteer assistant coach at the College of the Ozarks. In 1998, Woodruff began her graduate work at the University of Arkansas in recreation management. As a graduate assistant, she served as the program coordinator for the school’s “Champions of Character” program which included activities such as leading small discipleship groups and developing character training programs for student athletes. She also became very involved with the Arkansas Athletes Outreach program on campus. In addition to her responsibilities at the university, Woodruff taught physical education to children in kindergarten through fifth grade at a local elementary school.

With extensive experience in the game of basketball as a player and coach and the recipient of several honors, Woodruff believes she has all of the qualifications necessary for her new job, not only because of her many years of experience, but due to her passion for working with student athletes.

Brandon Wood - Graduate Assistant

Brandon returns to Union after coaching and teaching in his hometown of Franklin, Tennessee. This past season, Wood has taught Pre-Kindergarten – fourth grade Physical Education at Battle Ground Academy and also coached the 7th and 8th grade girls to a 16-3 season.

Wood played three seasons for the Bulldogs during his college career and was a student assistant for one year. He participated in one national tournament as a player and one as a coach. During his playing years at Union, Wood averaged 2.3 points per game and shot over 43% (56-130) from the three-point line. His best season coming in 1996-97 when he shot 22-42 from behind the arc for a .524 shooting percentage. Wood graduated from Union in 1999 with a degree in Physical Education and Health and is currently working towards his Masters degree in Education.

In high school, Wood was selected All-State his junior and senior seasons and also honored as the MVP of the state tournament his senior season. He averaged 18 points and 8 assists per game.

Brandon is the son of Julie Barrett and Cooper Wood.
