Head Coach Gary Johnson

Coach Gary Johnson will begin his third year as the head coach of the Women's Cross Country team and his first season at the helm of the Men's Cross Country team during their inaugural season.

Originally from Tulsa, Okla., Johnson graduated from Union University in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education. He completed his Master of Science degree at the University of Memphis in December of 1993. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Arts degree in Physical Education from Middle Tennessee State University. Johnson is married to the former Holly Tingor of Jackson. The two are active fitness runners and are members of Englewood Baptist Church.

Johnson will continue coaching both cross country teams and the men's tennis team. He was named Coach of the Year in the TranSouth, along with being awarded the NAIA Region XI Coach of the Year in Tennis.

This will be the third season for women's cross country and Johnson is very optimistic about the upcoming season. "We hope to build on our success by adding some new runners to our four returing members of last year's team." Johnson goes on to say, "As long as we stick together and grow as athletes and as people, our team should be successful."
