Before Union: McGary played high school soccer and basketball at Searcy High School. She was a key in leading her soccer team to the Arkansas 6-A State Title in 2007 and 2008. McGary also pushed her team to conference titles in 2006, 2007, and 2008. She earned All-Conference honors as a freshman, sophomore, and junior. In 2008, she started all 10 games, scoring 12 goals and dishing out four assists. McGary also played soccer for the Arkansas Rush Premier League, scoring 11 goals and recording 16 assists in 24 games played. Off the field, McGary was a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, Spanish Honorary, and was named FCA Sweetheart.
