Brian Dunn begins his third season
as head volleyball coach at Union and is coming off a 1999
season in which he led the Lady Bulldogs to TranSouth
conference regular season and tournament championship and
the finals of the NAIA region tournament. The Lady Dogs
finished their second season with an overall record of
44-6 improving Dunn’s two season overall record to
78-19.
Dunn has led the Lady Bulldogs
softball program to a 200-48 record over the past four
years. Union softball has accomplished three straight
seasons with 50 plus wins along with three straight Top 10
rankings in the NAIA. The Lady Dogs have earned two
TranSouth Conference Championships, one MidSouth Region
Championship, and Union’s first ever appearance in the
NAIA Softball World Series in 1999.
During his four-year tenure at
Union, Dunn has coached 26 all-conference, 20 all-region,
9 all-America, and 16 scholar athlete award winners. Dunn
has earned nine coach of the year awards including being
named the 1998 NCCAA National Softball Coach of the Year.
Dunn is a 1989 graduate of San Diego
State University, where he helped lead the baseball team
to a Western Athletic Conference Championship and a Top 25
national ranking. His coaching career began at Riverside
High School in Parsons, Tennessee where he led the Lady
Panther softball team to their first appearance in the
state tournament.
Brian Dunn is married to the former
Emily Garrett, a 1986 graduate of Union University. They
have two daughters, two year old Addison Grace and newborn
Ashlee Claire.
