Coach’s Comments: Ashley is a solid player at the net with her powerful attack and great blocking skills. She will provide solid play to help us with our offense and make things easier for our back row defense.

Before Union: Young transferred to Union from Southwestern Illinois College where she played two seasons of volleyball. While at SWIC, Young was named All-Region twice and Bellville News Democrat honorable mentioned. She helped her team place third in the NJCAA National Tournament in 2007 and eighth place in 2006. In her two seasons at SWIC, Young tallied 545 kills and 124 blocks. She led the team in blocks with 59 as a sophomore. Young played four seasons of volleyball at Belleville West High School. As a senior, she was named All-Conference and All-Tournament. Young also helped lead her team to a third-place finish in the Class AA State Tournament.
