Current Missionaries-in-Residence
We are grateful to have the Bob & Gloria Gellerstedt with us this year.
Bob & Gloria have served in Japan since 1991 and are here for a one year stay. They are
living in missionary housing in McKenzie through early Spring 2008. Kim Alan and Kathy North
are graduates of Union University and serve overseas in the Pacific Rim. The Norths have four children
and will be serving as MIR's through the summer of 2008. Steve and Susan Booth
serve in Canada and will be living on campus during the Spring 2008 semester.
To invite missionaries to speak in your church, or for more information about the
Missionary in Residence Program, contact the Office of Campus Ministries at
Union University, 731-661-5062.
Please keep in mind that missionaries do not receive reimbursement for travel or other
expenses related to their speaking engagements. Therefore, each church is responsible for
travel expense reimbursement and is also encouraged to consider the possibility of a love
offering/honorarium.
The Missionary-in-Residence Program
The Missionary-in-Residence Program at Union
University is designed to provide a temporary home for missionaries serving
on stateside assignment (furlough) and to promote awareness of global missions
to the Union University and surrounding church communities. Union University
is committed to active involvement in global missions. By hosting missionary
families each academic year, our faculty, staff, and students hear eyewitness
accounts of God's movement around the globe as well as discover short and long
term opportunities of service.
The Office of Campus Ministries desires
for the faculty, staff, and students of Union University to integrate involvement
in global missions into their lifestyles. By offering the Missionary-in-Residence
Program on our campus, students can meet individually with a missionary and
discuss life in another country, mission opportunities, or cross culture missions!
Missionaries possess a wealth of knowledge about different cultures, world religions,
and the peoples of the world. They assist the faculty, staff, and students of
Union University in broadening its global outlook, increasing its understanding
of global missions, and expanding our vision of using specific vocations for
God's kingdom.
