Ryan Center Hosts New Testament Scholar and Missionary
January 8, 2004 - On Dec. 2-3 the Ryan Center hosted a visit to Union University by Dr. James Hering, recent Ph. D. graduate from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland and missionary with World Witness (Associate Reformed Presbyterian). Dr. Herings doctoral research focussed on the passages in Colossians, Ephesians and 1 Peter referred to as household codes, passages which address the duties of husbands, wives and children. Dr. Herings research has been described as the most extensive examination of the household codes to date, and he summarized the fruits of this research for students in the Pauline Epistles class at Union.
The mission of the Ryan Center is to encourage and enhance biblical interpretation and application. One way this is accomplished is by providing students exposure to the latest in sound, faithful biblical research.
