Reading Strategies for Science and Social Studies

Kenneth Newman, Ed.D., Professor of Educational Leadership, Jackson

February 1, 2007 - Dr. Kenneth Newman presented Reading Strategies for Science and Social Studies at the Jackson-Madison Professional Development for 3rd and 4th Grade Teachers. This half day session looked at strategies for pre-, during-, and post-reading, followed by grade groups developing reading strategies for science and social studies. Grade groups then shared ideas with the larger group. Isaac Lane Magnet School 3rd and 4th grade teachers were involved in another in-service session at their own school, so he was invited to present the same information to them later in the month.
