Summer 2012 Sees Changes in School of Education

September 5, 2012 - Union University’s School of Education has recently undergone changes among its faculty and staff on all three of its campuses. Dr. Stephen R. Marvin has been appointed as the Assistant Dean of Graduate Studies in Education on the Germantown campus, as Dr. Jennifer Grove joined the faculty at Mississippi College, in order to be closer to her family. Likewise, Dr. Carren Gallaher accepted a transfer from Union’s Hendersonville campus to Union’s Germantown campus. Dr. Linda Cash has joined Union’s Hendersonville campus as Assistant Dean of Graduate Studies in Education and as an Associate Professor of Educational Leadership. Additionally, Dr. Eric D. Marvin has assumed new responsibilities as the Director of Online Instructional Innovations and Director of the Center for Educational Practice. On the Jackson campus, Dr. Nancy Cherry was named Director of Masters’ Programs in Education, adding the M.Ed. directorship to her leadership role in the M.A.Ed. as Dr. Ralph Leverett has transitioned to a part-time role.

Recent changes among staff have also occurred. Darla Hall recently decided to relocate to Arkansas, providing opportunity for Angela Franklin to serve as the M.A.Ed. coordinator on the Germantown campus. Franklin joined the School of Education, having previously been working in Union’s BSOL program.

The changes offer new opportunities for some, while the vision of Union remains the same. Union’s School of Education continues to pursue an excellence-driven, Christ-centered, people-focused, and future-directed mission.
