Department Celebrates Academic Achievement
at Annual Awards Banquet

The Department of History and Political Science held its annual awards banquet on May 3, 2007. Approximately 30 people attended the Italian-menu dinner at which Dr. Judy LeForge, the banquet’s featured speaker, talked about “The Nineteenth-Century Civil Rights Movement: The Church and Black Women.” The Rutledge Honorary History Club, under the guidance of Dr. Terry Lindley, coordinated the event.

The department honored several graduating senior students with awards that included a Phi Alpha Theta Scholarship Key given to John Crawford, a John W. Burgess Award presented to Jonathon Mark Walls, and The Lewis Edward Moore, Sr. Memorial Award given by the Tennessee Political Science Association to Derrick Lambert. There were also awards for superior achievement in the history major and minor and the political science major and minor, and three Political Science Research Paper Awards. Finally, certificates of appreciation were presented to department club presidents for their work in 2006-2007. View the names of the student award winners and club presidents.
