Students Present Papers in Mississippi; Patterson Wins First Place
Mariann Martin and David Patterson, both history majors, presented papers at the Mississippi Phi Alpha Theta Regional Conference at Mississippi State University on March 27, 2004. Marian's paper dealt with "The Greco-Roman Heritage: A Defense of Southern Life," and was a part of a panel on "Southern Culture." David's paper, entitled "Rebel Republicans: The Religion and Politics of the New South," was included in a session on "Southen Politics in the 20th Century." At an awards ceremony, David received special recognition as the first place winner for best undergraduate papers at the conference.
Faculty members who traveled to Starkville for the conference included Dr. Stephen Carls (History), Dr. Terry Lindley (History), and Dr. James Patterson (Christian Studies). Dr. Patterson's wife, Donna, was also there.
