Dr. Bates Receives Faculty of the Year Award at Annual Awards Convocation

Dr. Keith Bates, Associate Professor of History, received the 2011 Faculty of the Year Award at Union University’s Annual Awards Convocation on May 6, 2011. Dr. Gene Fant, Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, made the announcement and referred to Dr. Bates as a “master teacher-scholar.” Dr. Bates is the latest in a long line of distinguished faculty members at Union who have received this prestigious honor going back to the 1970s. Dr. Bates was a guest of honor at a luncheon provided by Union University President David Dockery following the awards convocation. Several members of Dr. Bates’s family, including his wife Lisa and daughter Rachel, were also among the guests at the luncheon.
