Program at History Education Reception Features History Student Teacher

Nov 16, 2011

The history department highlighted its fall-semester History Education Reception on November 16, 2011, with a program that featured student teacher Allen Matthews. Allen talked about his experiences at Madison Academic High School and Rose Hill Middle School. In the process, he underscored four points that that he considered important in his approach to teaching: a respect for students at all times; a religious faith that gives him personal strength; a deep sense of calling to the teaching profession; and an appropriate dress code for a young teacher. Following a question and answer session, Dr. Judy LeForge, the coordinator of the event, presented Allen with a gift to express appreciation for his contribution. More than 30 people attended the reception, including all of the history department’s full-time faculty members.
