Five History Majors Earn Bachelor’s Degrees at December Graduation
Dec 10, 2011
Five history majors successfully completed their work for bachelor’s degrees at Union University during the fall semester and were listed among the graduates at Union’s commencement exercises on December 10, 2011, at West Jackson Baptist Church. The fall graduates included: Zeinab (Sarah) Chan, Grant Kelly, Allen Matthews, Stephen Thomas, and Samuel Wiggin. Allen and Samuel were able to attend the graduation ceremony, while the others received their degrees in absentia.
In the area of special recognitions, Samuel joined graduating senior Joel Wellum, a history minor, in wearing a Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society honor cord at the commencement services. In addition, Samuel wore his Union University December Graduation Academic Excellence Medal in History that had been given to him a week earlier for his outstanding work in the major.
A reception honoring Union’s fall graduates preceded the graduation ceremony. Allen, Joel, and Samuel also attended that, and received congratulations from numerous well-wishers.
