Phi Alpha Theta Supports Fund"Racing" Event Benefiting Hippotherapy in West Tennessee

Union’s Delta-Psi Chapter of Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society had two volunteers and a runner participate on September 15, 2012, in the annual “Racing So They Can Ride” 5K and 10K Fund”Racing” Event that supports hippotherapy for children with special needs in West Tennessee. The event was sponsored by the Rein-Bow Riding Academy, an arm of West Tennessee Healthcare, and some 100 people competed in the races. Chapter President Jeffrey Lewoczko was a runner in the 5K race, while Vice President Mary Ellen Poe and Faculty Advisor Dr. Stephen Carls worked as volunteers guiding people in the right direction along the racecourse. Douglas Martin, a 2007 history graduate of Union and a member of the Delta-Psi Chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, won overall 1st place in the 5K for male runners. Jeffrey won 3rd place in his age category.
