History Faculty Assist in Tornado Cleanup
Feb 11, 2008
Members of the history department helped with the cleanup at Union University following the devastating tornado that struck its campus on February 5, 2008. Drs. Keith Bates, Stephen Carls, Judy LeForge, and David Thomas served on “bag and tag” teams that went through damaged dormitory rooms to retrieve personal property left behind by students when they evacuated their rooms immediately after the tornado. There was a history department presence throughout the five days (February 7-11) that the “bag and tag” work details cleaned out dormitory rooms. Department faculty spouses Dr. Alice-Catherine Carls and Mrs. Nancy Thomas also took part in this activity.
