History Students Win Honors at Union University Awards Day Convocation

Two history majors earned special recognition at Union University’s Awards Day Convocation on May 9, 2008. Mary Beth Johnson was the recipient of the Academic Excellence Medal in History for her outstanding performance in history courses and her many contributions to the department’s program of extracurricular student activities. Mary Thompson received the first place award in the Dr. James Alex Baggett History Research Competition for her paper on “The Effect of Anti-German Propaganda During World War I on German-Americans in Tennessee.” The award consisted of a certificate of commendation and a stipend.
