The Department of Music at Union University invites you to explore, enhance, and employ your musical gifts with us as we exalt God and inspire others. Our talented faculty members are professional musicians and teachers, committed to Christ-centered excellence and ready to challenge and encourage you to reach beyond your expectations.

The Department of Music offers the Bachelor of Arts in Music degree with a minor in an outside field. This degree is particularly suited for those students who see music as an entry point into college but who may not be planning a specific career in music. Even so, as with all of our music degrees, students are well prepared for graduate studies in music and a myriad of musical careers.

The Department of Music also offers a variety of professional, Bachelor of Music degrees. While broad in scope, these degrees prepare students for career fields in or closely related to music. These include:

  • Music Education (vocal/general and instrumental/general)
  • Church Music
  • Performance (voice, piano, organ)
  • Music Theory
  • Composition
  • Music with an Emphasis in Worship Leadership
  • Music with an Emphasis in Management
  • Music with Elective Studies in Communication Arts

In addition, the Department of Music offers a Minor in Music for students pursuing a degree in an outside field. The Minor in Music, as well as all music degrees, requires a successful audition in a chosen area (voice, piano, violin, etc.).

Regardless of your degree selection or career goals, the Department of Music will provide quality instruction in the classroom, high standards in the private studio, and exceptional experiences through ensemble participation. You will learn from the great repertoire of the Western Art Tradition while embracing new and global musical expressions. Through rigorous studies and a variety of performances, you will develop musically, intellectually, and spiritually while connecting with others and learning to use your gifts to serve your community and the world for Christ. Apply today and become part of what God is doing through the Department of Music at Union University.

Union University is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.
