2013 TMTA STATE CONFERENCE

West Tennessee Music Teachers Association is hosting the 2013 State Conference and Auditions of Tennessee Music Teachers Association on June 1-4, 2013 at Union University in Jackson, Tennessee. The auditions will be held on June 1 and 2 and the conference will be held on June 3 and 4. Louis Nagel and Julie Jaffee Nagel will be the featured conference presenters.

Louis Nagel has served on the faculty of the University of Michigan since 1969. He holds three degrees from The Juilliard School of Music where he studied with Rosina Lhevinne, Josef Raieff, and Joseph Bloch. He has presented lecture recitals at several conferences for MTNA, and will perform a recital, give a master class, and present a session on practice at the conference.

Julie Jaffee Nagel has completed graduate degrees in music, social work, and psychology from The Juilliard School and The University of Michigan, and currently operates a private practice as a psychologist and psychoanalyst. She will speak on performance anxiety and discuss Melodies of the Mind, her recently published book. Books will be available for purchase at a book signing during the conference.

Additional sessions will be presented by Fay Adams, Elaine Harriss, and Terry McRoberts, all former TMTA presidents, as well as Allison Nelson. Lee Warren will be speaking at the conference banquet. Please consult the conference schedule for specific times and details.

The daytime sessions are free to TMTA Members and Union University students and faculty. The admission charge for others is $25.00 per day. Please consult the registration form for registration details, and to register for the meals. There is no admission charge for the evening recital, and the public is cordially invited to attend.
