Political Science Graduates Seven

The Department of Political Science graduated seven students this past Saturday. We wish these students the best as they begin this next phase of their life. Our graduates are:
Marielle Dirkx of Madison, Mississippi graduated with two degrees, one in Political Science and the other in Economics. She also won the Academic Excellence Award in both majors. She will start the University of Mississippi Law School this fall.

Political Science Honors Society Comes to Union

On Friday, May 2, the political science department hosted the inaugural meeting of the Union University chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha took place. Pi Sigma Alpha is the only National Political Science honors society and honors students who have demonstrated excellence in their study of politics. Watson Presents Paper on Evangelical Political Thought

Dr. Watson presented a paper as part of a panel on Evangelical Political Thought at the Paul Henry Institute’s Symposium on Religion and Politics at Calvin College on April 25th, 2008. Dr. Watson partnered with Dr. Bryan McGraw and Dr. Jesse Covington of Wheaton and Westmont colleges respectively.

Evans Ends Term as President of TPSA

This past weekend, Sean Evans, Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Political Science, ended his term as President of the Tennessee Political Science Association.

Watson Presents Paper on Theologico-Political Problem

Dr. Watson presented a paper, “Spinoza, Strauss, and Fortin on the Theologico-Political Problem” at the annual meeting of the Southern Political Science Association in New Orleans on January 10, 2008. He enjoyed driving through Mississippi and Louisiana and seeing New Orleans for the first time, including the world-famous Café Du Monde where he and Dr. Evans consumed a great deal of powdered sugar.
