iTunesU promotes University

Audio and video content popular with public

iTunesU is Union's newest way to distribute public audio and video files to students, employees or others outside the University. This is being done through one central channel on Apple's iTunes site. Like many universities, Union now provides iTunesU content that appears in public searches inside the iTunes store.

To see what's there, go to the Connect with Union section of www.uu.edu and use the iTunes icon. Read more

This content comes from the Union Audio Project (www.uu.edu/audio) and will include other University and academic resources. Topics include departmental, colloquial and guest-speaker lectures, faculty research as well as departmental promotional materials.

To get started adding content, contact Instructional Technology and Campus Media (ITCM) at itcm@uu.edu or 731-661-5077 for production assistance with your audio or video content. Contact Cam Tracy at ctracy@uu.edu or 731-661-5502 for help posting and promoting your content inside iTunesU.

iTunesU content is for public use. Licensed content or other media intended only for students should be viewed through MoodleRooms, Blackboard or other secure sources.

Phishing: IT will not request passwords

Password privacy protects you, Union

Union's IT staff will never request your University password via e-mail or by calling you. It's that simple. You've all received a message saying your technology access will be shut down unless you enter your username and password somewhere. This is phishing. Sharing your University login information gives hackers a possible path to steal thousands of people's private information.

You should not share any password. If you think there is a legitimate request for you to act, be sure the request is coming from a trusted source. Look up the organization's contacts. Don't use links or phone numbers in the message. If you get a call requesting your Union login, call the IT helpdesk at 731-661-HELP (4357) to report it.

If you want to change your Union password at any time, go to password.uu.edu

University adds e911

Emergency calls located instantly

9-911. Dial it from a Jackson-campus, University-installed phone and the e911 dispatcher will know where you are. It's not just some location in one of the University's 50-plus Jackson-campus buildings, but the exact location in the specific building and office. In a medical, safety or security emergency, this will help responders get to you much more quickly.

Portal proves popular

Student voting, more added

This spring, Union's portal was used for the first time to support student nominations for faculty member of the year as well as class officer elections. There was approximately double the student participation compared to the last two years! Over 300 participated in faculty nominations and nearly 600 voted for class officers.

Read about other recent additions to the portal.

  • Degree Audit - helps a student get an unofficial report about completed and uncompleted courses within the core, specific core, and major; also provides "what if" analysis for a different major. Find it on the portal's WebAdvisor tab, in the Academic Profile section.
  • Curriculum maps - helps a student plan courses needed to complete a specific degree. Academic Resources menu > Academic Center (Registrar)
  • Weight Loss Center helpful employee information and accountability. University Resources menu > Human Resources > Resources tab.

Student e-mail, files for life

Keep in touch, keep your work

Students: You can use your @my.uu.edu email address and SkyDrive storage space after you graduate or leave. These are lifetime resources. Your access to MoodleRooms, Blackboard, WebAdvisor, etc. ends after you leave Union. Learn when.
