Employee Tools

Each university employee receives a standard set of IT-related tools during employment at Union. Unless otherwise noted, these tools are generally provided to full-time and part-time faculty and staff members. Each link provides more information about the specified tool. Also see FAQs for new employees.

• Managed workstation appropriate for the employee's job - desktop or laptop PC/Mac *
• Software to support common university tasks - discipline/task-specific software as needed *
• Network/internet access - wired and wireless access to the local-area network (LAN) on campus, to the wide-area network (WAN) between campuses and to the public internet *
• Accounts to access university-related systems and services (View a complete list)
  • Portal - access to multiple systems/services exclusively for employees, students
  • Network - network file storage/access on or off campus, network file backup/recovery
  • Printing from a university computer - also from your own laptop using PawPrint
  • E-mail and calendar
  • WebAdvisor - grade entry, electronic pay stubs, W-2's, etc.
  • Learning Management System (LMS) - online course resources in MoodleRooms
  • Library research databases - login required off campus
  • Ellucian Colleague - for approved support staff to enter/maintain university database records *
  • ServiceU event scheduling - for approved support staff *
  • Cannon printing supply ordering - for approved support staff *
  • Software ordering/acquisition for a personally-owned computer
    • Academically discounted software at OnTheHub - includes Microsoft Office
    • Other free discipline-specific programs

• Loaner laptops and iPads
• Scantron multiple-choice testing grading (Jackson, Germantown)

* Adjunct faculty and Facilities/Housekeeping/Security staff who do not have assigned office space are not directly provided this tool. Facilities/Housekeeping/Security staff may use general-purpose computer labs within supervisor guidelines about when this is allowed. Adjunct faculty may use the general-purpose labs at any time they are open and not in use for class.
